First Place
A Veteran Military Wife
Submited by Tina Rath

A veteran military wife advised me when I moved for the first time to pack "breakfast" items in a box and label it #1. I packed the toaster, silverware, skillet, paper plates, napkins, and most importantly - coffee pot with filters and coffee. When you are at the new house and exhausted, you know that you can at least prepare breakfast when you find Box #1. Box #2 was all bed linens and bath towels including a bar of soap. After moving many times during my husband's military career, I followed her advise and mentally thanked her when I got to my new house.

Moving With Kids
Submited by Stacy Baqui

We moved twice in the last two years with our kids in tow. First we played lots of music while packing it made it fun and the time went by fast. The kids got really involved. We all packed one room at a time and labeled / color codes the boxes by the room. The last things we packed and the first things we unpacked were the camping gear. We turned the in between stage into one big camping trip. The kids loved it and everyone was smiling.

Planning is the Key
Submited by Heather Simone

To make your move seamless and easy, it is important to plan ahead. You can get free boxes from grocery stores and drugstores to supplement the ones you buy. Prior to the move go through each room and throw away or donate items you don't need especially books since they are heavy. Use bubble wrap for delicate items and also put towels in the box with fragile items to ensure they wont get broken. Make sure you label the boxes on top and the side so you can see easily what is in each box when they are stacked and finally keep critical items like papertowels, toiletpaper, cleaning items etc in a box that is put in the truck last. This way it is the first thing you take out and have it on hand for spills etc. These tips will help make the move more organized and pleasant.
